The IAS Symposium on Frontiers in Neuroscience was held from June 16 to 19, 2025, at HKUST. As one of the organizers, Prof. Kai Liu delivered a welcome address and gave a keynote speech on "Axon Regeneration and Functional Rewiring after Central Nervous System Injury."
Overview
The symposium brings together leading experts and innovators to explore groundbreaking advancements in understanding the nervous system, focusing on innovative approaches to neuronal function, scarring, neurodegeneration, and therapeutic strategies. Topics will include cutting-edge single-cell techniques to dissect neuronal specification, connectivity, and degeneration, offering profound insights into how individual neurons develop, operate, and deteriorate. In addition, we will examine how the neural environment influences neuronal function and constrains regeneration, shedding light on the complex interactions that impact recovery after injury.
